Lessons
- Have you always wanted to learn to sing or get better at it?
- Is your voice getting tired after singing?
- Do you sing in a choir and need extra help putting together the material in between rehearsals?
Great! You’ve found the right person.
I have performed as a soloist in France, Italy, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium and the UK. I have experience in performing, nerve managing, and vocal technique that I want to share.
About me
Each voice is unique. I can help you discover yours!
I love passing on the knowledge of my craft. The mechanics of the voice are small and intricate, and getting to know what goes inside our throat and body is a very special experience. On top of my experience as a singer and a teacher, I have a degree in linguistics. That allows me to know exactly what has to be done inside your throat and mouth in order to produce a specific sound. I know all the fancy words, like supra- and sub-glottal pressure, nasopharynx, glottis, velum, but I can also break down the concepts so they’re less abstract and easier to understand. I get excited and moved every time a student achieves a new skill, and takes another step towards a deeper understanding of their voice.
Why am I a good teacher?
I adapt to each student: if they have an analytic mind, I can explain what goes on inside and what should be done to improve that. If they have an instinctive mind, I can help with metaphors in order to help the phonation. Or both! My method is multi-faceted because each voice is unique, and it is my job to adapt, and not the contrary.
I also want my students to become self-aware and autonomous in their practice. I want them to be able, once alone, to practice on their own and know what they are looking for. I will therefore, in each lesson, ask my students to pay attention how it feels inside to be able to reproduce that feeling at home. I wish for them to be able, once home alone, to not practice blindly without points of reference.
I have accumulated a broad experience by meeting a vast array of different personalities and individual needs by teaching since 2015. We all bring our whole history with ourselves, and each student is also for me a new opportunity to bring my teaching standards to a superior level. I want to keep bettering my skills as a teacher, on both a human level and a technical level.
How does a lesson work?
The first time we meet, we will talk about your journey with music. What you have done so far, what artists and genres inspire you, what are your goals. Then we will do what we do in every regular lesson: I will direct you during warming-up exercises and vocal technique exercises, and then we will work on whatever you want.
I ask my students to always come with at least one piece of music they want to work on (or maybe two, depends on the time we have on hands), so we have enough material for the duration of the lesson.
I teach in English, French, and in Dutch, online, in Antwerpen (at my place or yours) and in Brussels (at your place or at a music studio nearby the Madou subway station).
Looking forward seeing you!
